Family: Verbenaceae
Native to South America from Chile and Peru, a deciduous shrub growing
to fifteen feet, it was introduced to Europe by the Spanish. Available
fresh or dried, it can be used to impart a lemon flavor to drinks and
salads. The leaves gathered at flowering time, can be used as a tea,
retain their odor for years, and are used in perfumery.
