(Satureja hortensis)
Family: Labiatae
Native to Europe, an annual mint used in cookery. Its dark-green, narrow
leaves are dried and crushed, and have a clean, pine-like fragrance
and peppery flavor. Summer Savory enhances almost any savory dish, and
goes well with soups, stews, bean dishes, succotash, cabbage, and sauerkraut.
