Family: Labiatae
Native to South East and East Asia, Shi-So is a very popular herb in
Japan. The young leaves and flowering shoots are used for cooking and
pickling because of their aromatic flavor. The plant grows well in full
sun or partial shading in mild climates. Green leaf Ao-shiso is very
popular in sushi.
