Prickly Ash

Family: Rutacea
Leaf of the prickly ash a small North American tree with pinnate leaves and alternate branches, which are covered with sharp and strong prickles. It belongs to the Yellow Wood family, which all possess aromatic and pungent qualities. The berries grow in clusters on the top of the branches, and are deep blue or black enclosed in a gray shell. The leaves and berries have an aromatic odor similar to oil of Lemons, and the bark and berries have a hot acrid taste.
