A flavoring agent made in Trinidad from the bark of the tree. The tree
also grows abundantly on the mountains of Venezuela. Cusparia bark is
an aromatic bitter, and it is an important constituent of "Angostura
bitters", which also contains cinchona, and other bitter substances.
