Family: Umbelliferae
Native to Syria and indigenous to northern Europe, the entire plant
of this herb can be used including the root, leaves, and seeds. The
roots and fruit yield a flavoring oil, and its candied stem is typically
used in baking. The leaves, either fresh or dried, make a pleasing tisane
or herbal tonic tea, resembling China tea. A member of the carrot family.
